MAKE POVERTY HISTORY

$1 is the daily income of half of Africa's people

The G8 Leaders at the conference at Gleneagles, Edinburgh, Scotland in July 2005, need your support to help them make a momentous decision in history.

'This is not an issue of politics, it's an issue of morality' - Sir Bob Geldof

Do they continue to support the rich minority who line their pockets, at the expense of  the millions who are dyeing from poverty, lack of proper medical treatment and general 'who cares anyway' mentality.

I care, do YOU?

Well. who is going to be there? We all know Tony Blair will be there.

Then there is George Bush, along with his Aircraft Carrier  [who knows how he will get this into Edinburgh] for protection. Perhaps his marines will carry it, a bit like the Mission [seen the film?].

Plus six other leaders, from the great Western industrialised nations.

So who are they?

  1. George Bush - USA President
  2. Tony Blair - Socialist Prime Minister of Great Britain (Yeh, right)
  3. Leader  - France ?
  4. Leader - Germany ?
  5. Leader - Japan ?
  6. Leader - Somalia (I don't think so)
  7. Leader -Brazil ?
  8. Leader - Canada ?

C'est tout! ( A green vegetable)

inhumanity of some World leaders at Spreadeagles, Edinburgh; who forget that :

Other possible suggestions [from my associates] were Italy, China, Russia & Australia. Oh, and Sicily as they have the Mafia. This list is a pure guess, and totally wrong. I guess I will have to do some digging to find the correct candidates at the G8 conference.

Ok, this is where Wikipedia comes in very useful: See if you can match the name to the face:

What are they there for?

Well. I believe it is to talk about what Scott Mills has been doing in his  show on Radio One, and whether he can keep his numbers of listeners happy with the 'Ay Dirty Boy' campaign.

Or could it be something to do with the 'Make Poverty History' campaign?

Does big business around the globe have a stronger presence at this G8 summit than the millions who support debt reduction? Hence the Sicily suggestion! Can the normal person, i.e. You and Me,  with the support of the great legends of our time, at the Live8 global concerts, really make a difference ?

It seems from current news that the USA, Germany and Italy are already saying 'NO' to reduction of debt to the African nations.

Tony Blair's plans to tackle poverty in Africa are being 'blocked' by Germany and Italy, with both countries refusing to increase aid packages ahead of the vital G8 talks, The Observer can reveal.

Around £15 billion extra aid - enough to lift half of the world's poorest people out of extreme poverty -  is at risk this week because of the unwillingness of the two countries to back an ambitious upgrade  in spending. - Observer

As well as 100% debt relief, Mr Brown wants to set up an International Finance Facility (IFF) to help pay for immunisation programmes in Africa -

Mr Bush said on Wednesday that the IFF for Africa "doesn't fit our budgetary process".- BBC News

Can you recognise who they are -  spot the odd one out here  ?

Junichiro Koizumi - Japan   Vladimir Putin - Russia     Scott Mills - Radio One

Tony Blair - United Kingdom      George W Bush - United States of America

George Bush's administration supports wiping out $40bn (£22bn) of multilateral debt for the poorest countries, but says it must be financed by cuts in subsequent aid programmes. At 0.16% of GDP, the US aid represents one of the lowest proportions in the G8.

Who's that guy in the top right corner? he looks a bit dodgy. Could this be dirty boy?
